Well the Obama/Wright story is no less sad today than yesterday or the day before, but barring any public response from Wright, it looks like the newsboys may have to look elsewhere for their daily outrage tomorrow.
"I don't think he showed much concern for me ... and what we are trying to do in this campaign." In other words, 'I could be president, god damn it, can't you let me handle this?' With an extra dose of 'C'mon old man, let's make some changes this time.' Wright's generation fought one kind of war for justice in the U.S.; the Obama campaign is promising to fight another sort altogether.
One question now is, what did this disavowal cost Obama among religious black voters? (And for even asking such a question, I kind of hate myself.) This is the group of voters most inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt, I imagine, but he's relying on voters young and old alike to help him into the White House - he has to make inroads among older voters, as he's not likely to win new young converts away from Hillary bloody Clinton.
Let's hope we can press on anyhow. It's nearly over, praise Allah!
