Oy gevalt! Frank Gehry's design for a huge developmental complex in Brooklyn is...is...well, I'm not an architectural critic, but his 'Miss Brooklyn' building (which he has apparently described as '[his] ego trip') looks like leftovers from the Stata Center. Does Brooklyn really want to stare at Cambridge's scraps for the rest of time (until the bomb drops, anyhow)? (Slate's slide show here.)
Lethem's open letter to Gehry is excellent, by the way. He really is a superbly controlled, evocative writer. 'Controlled' is not the first word to spring to mind when talking about Gehry.
