There's a warrant out for Tom DeLay's arrest? Yaaawn.
There's much bigger game for hunting this week. (That second link there might end up being the money shot of 2005.)
An angry President Bush rebuked chief political guru Karl Rove two years ago for his role in the Valerie Plame affair, sources told the Daily News.[...]
But the President felt Rove and other members of the White House damage-control team did a clumsy job in their campaign to discredit Plame's husband, Joseph Wilson, the ex-diplomat who criticized Bush's claim that Saddam Hussen tried to buy weapons-grade uranium in Niger.
For those of you living in a fantasy world in which our leaders are noble, well-intentioned men, notice the italicized bit there: Bush was pissed off because Rove 'did a clumsy job'.
Yes, that makes perfect sense.
Rove really fucked up.
During. That. Politically. Motivated. Character. Assassination. Thing.
Now go back to that first link, which is like a heaping tablespoon of frisson casserole for political junkies:
White House Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove personally assured President Bush in the early fall of 2003 that he had not disclosed to anyone in the press that Valerie Plame, the wife of an administration critic, was a CIA employee, according to legal sources with firsthand knowledge of the accounts that both Rove and Bush independently provided to federal prosecutors.[...]
Regardless of whether or not the President was under oath, lying to federal prosecutors seems like a pretty clear case of obstruction of justice.
Is it irresponsible to speculate about what might happen if the in no way unreasonable or unlikely charges being leveled against the Administration turn out to be true? I don't think so. Is it unseemly to take pleasure in the coming political storm facing the White House?
Maybe. But personally I don't give a damn.
Humiliation of bad men seems OK to me. BUT THEN MAYBE I AM THE HATEMONGER??!#
