Baseball is easier for sportswriters to stomach in part because it's mainly clean-cut white guys. Boys that Dan Shaugnessy wouldn't mind seeing his daughter bring home. The punditry, I would suggest, dig that. Same for NFL quarterbacks, FWIW. Old values, traditional families, the importance of our national traditions...it's like the Republican Convention, but with a higher tolerance for Latinos.
