Level Up.

So there was a conference on games last week in the Netherlands, and while I have my reservations about so many aspects of gamestudies - see, for instance, Gonzalo Frasca's laughable September 12 'game', which purports to be a theoretical contribution of some kind - there's plenty of interesting stuff out there. Hell, maybe even my Masters thesis (which I promise to post as soon as it's signed, sealed, delivered - which happens this week, or I explode). Level Up brought together some impressive minds; we'll see what the value of it all is fairly soon.

Conference reports here and here. And for good measure, the esteemed Jesper Juul is here, though he's back to Copenhagen and likely gone native at this point. I mean, he is a native, and he's likely, er, forgotten how, um, totally goddamn awesome American TV was. Or something.

Thanks, I am almost back in my native state, only I can't get myself to wear the traditional folkdancing costume quite as often as I used to.

Can I have your Organizational Chart?
