One of my housemates decided today to install Windows XP on the machine in our dining room; that machine has been running Windows ME(!) for a few years.
The short version: everything about this monstrous failure of an operating system sickens me. Windows, I mean. The process killed both the old and the new OS's. The incurred damages? Several years of email and an undergraduate career's worth of work, for starters. And what happens when we do have XP? The OS will constantly be sharing information with Microsoft, so they can 'tailor the end-user experience' by, as near as I can tell, doing nearly everything wrong.
The lesson: buy a goddamn Macintosh. Very frustrating. Very.
(Oh and so like p.s.: I'm editing this on Internet Explorer. Which will go the way of the dodo within the next N weeks, where N < 4, in favour of Safari. My partisanship deepens daily!
